About the Program

The Serendipity Research Confluence, initiated by Nasir Memon from NYU Shanghai, aims to foster meaningful research collaboration among faculty across NYU’s three global campuses - New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai. The event brings together scholars from diverse disciplines to exchange ideas, explore emerging research directions, and identify opportunities for cross-campus partnerships. With a particular focus on the rapidly evolving fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), the Confluence highlights their growing impact across science and engineering, from data-driven discovery to real-world applications. By creating a platform for dialogue and connection, Serendipity seeks to strengthen NYU’s global research community and catalyze innovative, interdisciplinary projects that extend beyond individual campuses.

About the Program

Participants will engage in small, focused discussions designed to build networks around shared research interests and foster meaningful collaboration. These sessions will also support the development of white papers that outline specific research ideas and potential projects. Such initiatives will be positioned for future seed funding opportunities, marking an important step toward advancing innovative work in these critical areas.
